SPINS and Wins for Jaime Staples to Kick Off New Year

The year is only a few days old, but it has already been a busy one for partypoker Team Online pro Jaime Staples, a new episode of his SPINS Challenge mixed in with a third takedown of the Gladiator…
The Canadian has built himself a large following with his poker streams, and recently has been mixing in a tricky SPINS challenge to his weekly output, trying to run up a roll on the 3-handed, short-stack quickfire format.
This week was episode 5 and Jaime started with a quick win, a $40 double-up after catching some sweet flops along the way.
The Challenge involves working his way up the stakes, a $20 SPINS win meaning he moves up to the $50 stakes. Two chances to grab a victory, which would move him on to the $100.

If you’ve never tried SPINS before, they may seem rather random, the prizepool decided by a spin of the wheel with the chance to win 1000x your buy-in.
It’s a winner-takes-all format – although the jackpot prizes will see all three players hitting huge payouts.
With at least double your stake up for grabs, there is a level of strategy involved, even with the 25BB starting stack and the quick level changes.
‘Controlled aggression’ is the order of the day, but it’s not just a shove/fold approach that wins the day, as Jaime demonstrates in his own SPINS play.
