Pennsylvania continues to impress in terms of gaming revenue accrued in the state, with estimates suggesting that the $2 billion milestone for 2023 will be broken. September saw the region secure its highest-ever monthly revenue total, with over $187 million brought in during the month.

In 2022, Pennsylvania reached a total of $1.7 billion in revenue, and this year looks well on course to smash that total by some distance. The success of table games, slots, and PA online poker makes the state one of the most profitable in the whole country.

Among the key reasons for the upward surge in 2023 is the addition of three new online casino providers in Pennsylvania, with Tropicana, Bally’s, and Golden Nugget all being added to the roster.

By all accounts, the growing popularity of live dealer games is another reason for the increase in revenue, with the latest report from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board stating;

“Live Dealer Studio Games revenue now accounts for more than 50% of the interactive table games revenue, opposed to random number generator games that simulate the play of table games.”

The quality of these services is getting better all the time, giving virtual players a real feel that you might previously have only equated with visiting a land-based physical brick-and-mortar establishment.

As technology gets more advanced, the experience becomes more and more realistic.

Evolution Gaming is one of the leading companies behind these games, and their North American CEO, Jacob Claesson, commented on this increased avenue of revenue generation;

“There’s less pressure, there’s no one sitting at your shoulder upset about your decisions. There’s also much more flexibility in the game online than in land-based casinos; with our games players can enter the play in the middle of a shoe, and with games like our Infinite Blackjack players can even see how other players are choosing to act, which helps them to quickly learn what the best strategy might be when playing.”

James Stern, Evolution Gaming’s Chief Business Development Officer, spoke specifically of his company's growth in Pennsylvania;

“Demand for our Live Casino services in the US has been phenomenal. We are delighted to be further expanding our US operations by opening a standalone studio in Pennsylvania to serve both online operators and land-based casinos in the state. We are looking forward to opening up our world-leading live casino portfolio to operators and players in the state of Pennsylvania. Evolution continues to stay at the forefront — maximizing the opportunities in this exciting new market and growing together with our licensees.”

President of Rush Street Interactive, which runs BetRivers, among others, Richard Schwartz, also commented on the live gaming field.

“Many online players prefer live dealer options because they watch the action as it happens, which gives them a higher level of trust in the outcome. A live dealer game is the closest you can get online to playing in a land-based casino and we’re thrilled to be the first to offer players in Pennsylvania the opportunity to virtually sit and play on Evolution’s world renowned live tables.”
