Kory Kilpatrick Suffers a Tough Beat in WSOP Main Event

Last week, Kory Kilpatrick, a former professional player, was passing through Las Vegas just as the WSOP Main Event was just about to get going and he couldn’t resist the pull of having just one more go at the big one.
But unfortunately for the returnee, he had no idea what he was letting him in for. The reminder of what professionals face day in, day out, was more than enough to confirm that he made the right choice stepping away from the game.
The Most Horrific Bad Beat
We’ve all had bad beats in the past, but there are bad beats and there are bad beats. And this one took place on the TV table in full view of the whole world.Kilpatrick had actually been having a tough time before this hand and was sitting with only 20 big blinds. But when he had the chance to open with pocket aces the day started to look a bit better, although the three callers he got weren’t ideal.
Kilpatrick’s opponent’s were holding pocket fives, pocket nines, and QJs
The flop came down 9d Ah 9c. An absolute nightmare. What more can you say?
Kilpatrick and Bogo, holding nines both checked and Wisdom, holding fives, tried to take it down.
The 7d turn changed nothing but all players checked the street through.
The river came down the Jc and Bogo led out for 11,000. Kilpatrick makes an obvious jam but soon gets the bad news.
But rather than getting too frustrated at what just transpired, Kilpatrick took the horrific bad beat with nothing but good grace. With $1,227,425 in live tournament earnings, Kilpatrick has probably seen more than his fair share of incidents such as this one, but he made it quite clear what his feelings were about his return to the game when he announced to his Twitter followers “I don’t miss this life lol.”
