Four-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Dominik Nitsche secured another major victory this week. Competing under the screen name âTexxassssâ, Nitsche emerged victorious in ACR Pokerâs Venom event, which boasted a $12.5 million guarantee for a $2,650 buy-in. Nitsche defeated a field of 5,045 entries, earning an impressive $1,818,044.
Nitsche was joined by several notable players who also made deep runs and took home significant portions of the $12,612,500 prize pool. Among the top nine finishers were reigning WSOP Player of the Year Ian âRiverRiot72â Matakis (9th - $148,600), ACR ambassador and 2003 WSOP Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker (6th - $382,007), and 2023 Mid-States Poker Tour Michigan Main Event champion Kou âAK_Dont_Playâ Vang (4th - $716,844).
Matakis' tournament ended dramatically when his pocket kings were cracked by Nitscheâs pocket sixes, with Nitsche hitting the only out for a set on a cards-up delayed live stream hosted on ACR Pokerâs Twitch channel.
Chris Moneymaker finished in sixth place after his pocket tens were bested by the K-Q of âAnzueliticoâ. Moneymaker moved all-in on a king-high flop but found no help on the turn or river.
âPlaying a tournament like the Venom is truly a blessing. A $12.5 million guarantee is absolutely nuts! I am blessed to have final-tabled this event twice and hope to continue having success in fields like this,â Moneymaker said in a statement released by ACR Poker.
Vang exited in fourth place when his A-2 suited couldnât overcome the pocket queens of âPush0rdieâ. After âAnzueliticoâ was eliminated in third place ($1,013,515), the heads-up showdown between Nitsche and âPush0rdieâ commenced. Nitsche started with 59 big blinds against âPush0rdieâsâ 131.
The two players battled for around 50 minutes. Nitsche took the lead and extended his advantage to roughly 5:3 by the time the final hand occurred. âPush0rdieâ raised with Aâ KâŠ, Nitsche three-bet with Kâ 6â , and âPush0rdieâ four-bet. Nitsche called. The flop brought Kâ„ 6â„ 2âŠ, giving Nitsche top two pair. After a bet from âPush0rdieâ and a check-call from Nitsche, the turn came 5â„. Nitsche moved all-in, and âPush0rdieâ called.
