Jungleman Mugged in London During Triton Series

Dan “Jungleman” Cates has reported that he had his phone snatched while out walking in London during the Triton Poker Series. The American tweeted that the assailant was on a bike and he didn’t even have time to react before he was long gone.

No Warnings!

In his tweet, Cates wrote that we really should have some kind of advanced warning of this type of crime in a city where we hold poker events. For locals, word travels fast but tourists don’t always get the memo in time.

London’s reputation has changed in recent years and people are always advised to avoid flashing their valuables whilst out in public. More than 90,000 phones were stolen in the city last year.

The Hendon Mob’s Joe Beevers replied to ask if it was a case of getting straight onto his phone after leaving a Tube station. Apparently, this is a known tactic for opportunistic thieves.
“Had you just come out of a tube station? Everyone goes straight to their phone then, doesn't look up and they wait on their bikes by the entrance.”

Plenty of other posters confirmed that the same had happened to them in the past.

Some of the UK’s biggest sports stars have also come unstuck while out in public. Former world champion boxer Amir Khan was robbed of his $80,000 watch last year at gunpoint. Formula One star Lando Norris was put in a headlock and robbed of his £144,000 watch after the Euro 2020 final at Wembley.

Even Cates has been a victim before, although that was in Las Vegas. He was thumped in the face and turned up for a podcast interview with a black eye!
